CELEBRATION SUNDAY A Great Day!!
John Jennings & Jim Cleveland burned the mortgage note for the Family Life Center.
Sunday, July 6, 2008 was a very special day with a worship service in the Family Life Center, the dedication of Rose Mary Jennings Hall and the burning of the mortgage note for the Family Life Center. Three hundred fifty-three people attended the service. It is through the fellowship of Church School that members and visitors develop a sense of belonging. We have classes for all ages. If you have not joined us for Sunday School, please visit one or many of our classes. Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m. just after Coffee in Fellowship Hall ADULT CLASSES COLLEGE This class provides a special study for college students and young adults. Location: Family Life Center Come Double This discussion class uses the Quarterly Adult Study as the study guide with in-depth reviews on the Bible. Mature singles and couples. Location: Adult Education Wing. New Hope A discussion class is currently focusing the Upper Room. Location: Library New Horizons This is a discussion class focusing on the Upper Room. Mature singles and couples. Location: Adult Education Wing. Round TablE A roundtable discussion of many topics, centered on the Bible. Couples and singles, ages in the 30s to the 70s. Location: Family Life Center Today's Christians This class focuses on life lessons with scripturally based group discussions. The class includes young & mature singles and couples. Location: Family Life Center Wesley This class studies the Quarterly Adult Bible Study. Mature Adults. Location: Adult Education Wing. FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
Pastor Pete Adrian and his wife, Maggie Pete Adrian came to Mt. Vernon as our pastor on April 1st. He came here from First United Methodist Church Sulphur Springs. Pete’s wife, Maggie, works as a staff accountant in Paris. Pete is a native of Salina, Kansas, where his mother still lives, and graduated from Kansas State with a major in economics. He was a banker for about 25 years before he answered his call to ministry. He earned his Master of Divinity at Perkins. Pete and Maggie have three sons - Ronnie (lives in Missouri), Reid (wife Aghi and soon to be daughter Isabella live in Tyler), Paul (a jeweler traveling the western part of the US). They own a small piece of land near Commerce and spend much of their free time there. They enjoy golfing and fishing.
