United Methodist Women

We have a rich heritage of service to women, children and youth, foreign and home missions, Christian social involvement and spiritual growth. 

We invite any of our ladies to join us as we work toward those goals.

The Mt. Vernon United Methodist Women was organized before the 1900's.  It was first called the Ladies Aid Society with its purpose to gather funds for the parsonage, church and help and help pay the pastor's salary.  It's name was later changed to Home Missionary Society and each member paid 10 cents a month.  Then it became the Connectional Home and Foreign Missionary Society.  In 1940 it was called the Woman's Society of Christian Service, in 1968 it was changed to the United Methodist Women.
